January 16, 2014: Shannon Root, LISW, is New Director of Client Services at PLACES

Shannon Root, LISW, has been named the new director of client services at PLACES.   

She was most recently employed as the lead case manager in a Permanent Supportive Housing program in Washington, D.C., where she supervised the services for 80 chronically homeless families.

A Montana native, Root’s undergraduate degree is in sociology from the University of Montana. She also was awarded a master of social work from Boston University with an emphasis on trauma. 

Root brings a variety of knowledge and skills to her new position including experience in domestic violence, mental health and addictions, Permanent Supportive Housing and homeless shelters.

“PLACES is excited to have her join our team,” said Roy Craig, executive director of PLACES. “Her education, licensure and work experience are a perfect fit for PLACES. Even more importantly, her focus on client care is consistent with the mission and core values of PLACES.”
